About Us
Campbell River–born and raised, Alex has the honour and privilege of serving his very own hometown, bringing over 10 years of cumulative experience across the arboricultural, horticultural, and landscaping fields.
Alex’s grandfather, George Stefanitsis, a well-known local painter in the 80’s through early 2000’s, was Alex’s first inspiration. George was an avid gardener in his free time — a true green thumb — which made a deep impression on Alex from a young age. In high school planning class, "gardener" topped his list of dream jobs.
After high school Alex went on to study Master Gardening at Royal Roads University in Victoria through a partnership with Gaia College, and soon after became certified in Permaculture Design at an intensive week-long training in Cobble Hill. He put his knowledge to work under two mentors who ran prominent landscape gardening companies in Victoria.
Alex went on to study business and leadership development on the Lower Mainland through running a franchise with College Pro Painters. After two years of running the North Vancouver franchise he was asked to take on the role of General Manager and Business Coach for the BC division, overseeing and leading 15 franchisees.
College Pro Painters sold in 2019 and Alex went on to run his own landscape and property maintenance business, putting his new skills and original passion to work. After three years of running the business he met his wife Annick, and together they decided to move back to Alex’s hometown of Campbell River to marry and start a family.
As Alex and Annick began their new life together, Alex worked alongside and was mentored by Ben Boykiw, Master Arborist of Vision Arboriculture Ltd. who is well known locally for his deep love and knowledge of trees and his enthusiasm for sharing that love with clients and colleagues alike. As the company grew, Alex became a Crew Lead and, with Ben’s encouragement, earned certification as an ISA Arborist and qualification as a Tree Risk Assessor.
In August 2026, Alex started Haven Tree & Garden Care, actualizing his dream of being a gardener in his own home town, serving the community he knows and loves.
Alex and his wife, Annick, have two young children: a three-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl. Their son aspires to be an arborist and a garbage man when he grows up, and their daughter aspires to walk and run just as fast as her big brother.
